- Vienna, Austria
Timely, accurate and easily accessible weather information is critical to flight safety. smartWeather is the Frequentis Weather Information Management System designed to manage all types of weather information. It collects and processes data from multiple sources and makes it available to the aviation community including Air Traffic Controllers, Pilots, Dispatchers, Briefing Officers and ATM/ATC systems. smartWeather ispart of the smartAIM product suite which is operated by over 50 customers around the world.
The latest release of the product, which will be showcased at the Frequentis booth during the World ATM Conference in Madrid in March 2014, supports new capabilities for accessing the data via a Web Services interface and a new Web Portal.  Amongst many other functional enhancements, smartWeather supports the visualisation of the weather along the route of a flight and integrated briefing when combined with smartAIM.
The upcoming release of the product will support the WXXM/IWXXM exchange models and the OGC Web Services standards as mandated in new Amendments of ICAO Annex 3 and the result of research activities performed by the FAA and EUROCONTROL.
John Fort, CEO at Frequentis California, commented that “Systems such as smartWeather are critical components for the success of future ATM systems which will rely on effective planning and management tools to deliver to the airspace user the optimum business trajectory while ensuring flexibility. smartWeather was designed to ensure that our customer’s current and future needs are fully met and that the system offers the lowest possible lifecycle costs.”
