FREQUENTIS successfully puts in Operation its proven VCS System with fully integrated IP Backup at Aeronautica Civil de Colombia

In November 2012, FREQUENTIS successfully passed Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for the implementation of their Communication Solutions in the Air Traffic Control Centre and the Control Tower in San Andres, Colombia.
The signing of this acceptance enables the Colombian ANSP Aeronautica Civil de Colombia to operate with the latest technology for Voice Communication and Recording combined with synchronise replay of voice and local recorded 3rd party radar data. The Frequentis Voice Communication System is also equipped with a fully integrated technically independent IP Backup System for all radio and telephone connections. In case of any emergency situation due to breakdown of the main Voice Communication System, air traffic controllers will be able to communicate with the same layout on their touch screens without the need to change or re-plug of any position equipment like headsets.

The System is providing its functionality via traditional TDM and fully EUROCAE WG67 and ICAO Document 9896 compliant Voice over IP technology. With this new integrated system from the market leader in ATM Voice Communication, Aeronautica Civil benefits from simple and safe Main and Backup Communication as well as economic implementation and maintenance of the overall system.

This operational system is another proof of Frequentis` Leadership for safety critical Voice Communication on the global market and especially in the Latin-American Region. Frequentis again is the first and only one providing ICAO compliant Voice over IP technology in ATM being able to prove its success with operational reference projects Rolf Unterberger, Member of Executive Board of Frequentis, stated.
