Abu Dhabi Airports and FREQUENTIS partner for ATC voice communications systems

- Vienna, Austria.

Abu Dhabi Airports awarded Frequentis and their UAE partner, Bayanat Engineering UAE, the contract to modernise its voice communication infrastructure. The end-to-end IP communication solution, VCS3020X, will bring Abu Dhabi Airports the best performing air traffic control voice communication solution, together with rapid deployment and the lowest total cost of ownership.

In February 2016, Frequentis was awarded the contract together with Bayanat Engineering UAE to modernise the Abu Dhabi Airports’ voice communication systems. The towers at Al Bateen Executive and Delma Airport will be equipped with the Frequentis VCS3020X. As a proven compact and fully duplicated end-to-end IP VCS, the system provides flexible integration of the existing analogue and digital radio infrastructure. Al Bateen and Delma will be enabled to manage all communications between tower and cockpit with the shortest air-ground delay while providing the best voice quality. The fully redundant VCS3020X solution comprises a multitude of interfaces to external systems as well. It is ready for future IP radio and telephone connectivity and is compliant to the ED-137B EUROCAE (European Organization for Civil Aviation Equipment) standard.

“We are proud to have been selected by Abu Dhabi Airports to provide the latest voice communications technology. This shows that Abu Dhabi Airports continues to entrust Frequentis and its solutions. We look forward to completing another successful project with Abu Dhabi Airports and our UAE partner Bayanat Engineering”, Hannu Juurakko, Vice President ATM Civil at Frequentis said.

The Frequentis VCS3020X is the leading end-to-end IP voice communication solution for global air traffic management. Its robust and proven architecture brings scalability and the workload sharing and networking capabilities enforce the successful implementation of dynamic sectorisation or virtual air traffic control.
