EUROCAE and FREQUENTIS Celebrate a Decade of Harmonised Interoperability Development in VoIP-based ATM Voice Communication Systems Across the Globe

- Vienna, Austria.
The European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment (EUROCAE) and Frequentis jointly celebrated the 10thanniversary of EUROCAE Working Group 67 (WG-67). The celebration took place at the Frequentis premises during the 31st EUROCAE WG-67 meeting at October 1 and 2. The meeting was attended by about fifty high ranked technical representatives from ANSPs and Industry from Europe, USA, Brazil and Australia.
The working group was formed in 2004 by European Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), EUROCONTROL, suppliers of VCS equipment and ground-based radio systems, other equipment suppliers and service providers. WG-67 aimed to harmonise inter-operability of VoIP-based voice communication systems in Air Traffic Management within Europe. Now, ten years later, the initiative became a global success story, setting standards in VoIP ATM Voice Communication not only in Europe but also in Brazil, USA, and Australia. The standard is now referenced at ICAO level (Doc 9896).
