EUROCONTROL awards FREQUENTIS new long-term contract to advance European air traffic surveillance

- Brussels, Belgium.

Building on a partnership that has shaped European air traffic surveillance, EUROCONTROL has awarded market-leading surveillance expert, Frequentis, the fifth Industrial Partner contract for centralised ARTAS maintenance and operational support (CAMOS VI IP) for continued evolution until 2031.

ARTAS is Europe's leading multi-sensor tracker. At the heart of modern air traffic surveillance, a tracker integrates data from multiple surveillance sources and technologies into a single, coherent, and accurate air traffic picture for controllers. Developed by EUROCONTROL on behalf of its member states, ARTAS is the most widely deployed tracker in Europe, supporting around 90% of European daily flight movements with more than 50 operational installations.

Since becoming EUROCONTROL’s industrial partner in 2001, Frequentis has worked alongside EUROCONTROL to continuously maintain, support, and evolve ARTAS. The partnership has contributed to the development of one of the world's most advanced surveillance data processing systems, supporting the evolving demands of European air traffic management (ATM) while ensuring high levels of safety, reliability, and operational performance.

"CAMOS plays a vital role in the ongoing evolution of ARTAS, providing software support, continuous maintenance, and the enhancements needed to meet the evolving requirements of our user community," says Antonio Principe, EUROCONTROL ARTAS and SDDS Services Manager. "Frequentis has been a trusted industrial partner, helping to advance ARTAS alongside EUROCONTROL. CAMOS VI builds on this successful collaboration, ensuring the system continues to meet the future needs of European air traffic management."
"The award of CAMOS VI is much more than a contract extension. It reflects 25 years of trust, collaboration, and shared innovation," says Josef Kutschi, Managing Director of Frequentis Comsoft. "Together with EUROCONTROL, we have continuously evolved ARTAS to meet the changing needs of European air traffic management. We are proud to continue this journey until 2031, bringing our surveillance expertise to support customers with a solution that remains at the forefront of surveillance technology."
