FREQUENTIS voice communication connects controllers across Qatar’s skies: part of a unified OneATM platform

- Lisbon, Portugal.

Bayanat Engineering Qatar, as prime contractor in collaboration with Frequentis, is delivering the X10 voice communication system (VCS) to the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA). The deployment includes 40 controller working positions at the QATCC – a significant scale for a modern, fully integrated air traffic control communication backbone. It will support approach and area control centre operations.

The X10 VCS, together with other Frequentis solutions, enables QCAA controllers to operate a truly unified, next-generation digital ATM platform. By integrating voice communication with advanced tools for arrival/departure management, aeronautical information management, tower automation, and decision support, the platform delivers measurable gains in safety, capacity, predictability, and operational efficiency, giving controllers confidence to precisely manage growing air traffic demand.

This deployment allows QCAA to operate not just isolated systems, but a cohesive, interoperable OneATM ecosystem,” says Hasan Ezzeddine, Managing Partner at Bayanat Engineering Qatar. “The X10 VCS, as part of the broader platform, connects controllers and pilots seamlessly and strengthens decision support, ensuring Qatar’s air traffic remains safe, efficient, and future-ready.”

Bayanat Engineering Qatar brings strong regional expertise in delivering and supporting mission-critical aviation systems, ensuring reliability, compliance with international standards, and long-term operational excellence.

The X10 VCS installation at QATCC marks a major milestone in Qatar’s journey toward a fully digital, integrated, and future-proof ATM environment, laying the communication foundation for advanced initiatives such as Trajectory-Based Operations (TBO), SWIM integration, and advanced flow management.

The integration of X10 VCS into Qatar’s digital ATM landscape enhances interoperability, safety, and efficiency,” says Fawaz Baroud, Managing Director, Frequentis Middle East. “By providing QCAA with a unified operational platform, we continue to support Qatar’s ambition to lead the region in modern ATM technologies – making every flight safer, smoother, and more predictable.
