Two Austrian high-tech companies, CNS Solutions GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Frequentis AG, and Geolantis, a software developer for modern geoinformation solutions, are teaming up to offer tailor-made and future-proof information solutions to increase the quality of aeronautical data at airports as requested by the EU.
The number of flights in Europe is increasing but the available airspace, of course, remains the same. Navigation performance and safety depend on aeronautical data quality (ADQ). International and EU regulations, such as the commission regulation (EU) No 73/2010, require timely system deployment and operation for all aeronautical data, including aerodrome mapping data, obstacle data and terrain data. ADQ demands executive awareness as well as comprehensive workflows and data management.
All actors in the aeronautical information delivery chain shall contribute to accuracy, resolution, integrity and traceability using a fully digital aeronautical data supply chain, ensuring high service quality and safety. The Frequentis ADQ solution is a professional workflow and data quality management system connecting all data managers within and across units, as well as connecting different organisations.
With the recent smartADQ release Frequentis closes the last gap in the data supply chain and now provides seamlessly integrated processing of measurement data relevant for activities, that fall under the ADQ implementation regulation. Surveying tasks are commissioned by the smartADQ workflow solution and displayed in the mobile Geolantis ADQ-surveyor application. It integrates high precision Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) devices. The mobile solution communicates the readings back to smartADQ for clearance and further processing without the need for any paper-based steps.
Michael Pegam, managing director of Geolantis, endorses the strategic partnership: “Together with Frequentis – a well-renowned company in the ATM business – we can offer an integrated solution for European airports that provides all ADQ functionality according to EU Regulation No 73/2010 in a user-friendly and cost-efficient package.”
Commenting on the strategic partnership, Joachim Lennarz, Director of Information Solutions at Frequentis says: ”I'm excited about the collaboration between these two companies. With Geolantis we can provide fully digital aeronautical data and high service quality from the originator to the central European database EAD. This allows us to establish a unique, fully integrated electronic data chain without media breaks. In so doing, we will enable simplified data origination in a robust, long-term solution to ensure that our customers’ data quality meets and even exeeds the international requirements of an ever-growing aeronautical community. And all this with a reduction of overall operational costs.”
