From digital to virtual recording: Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (DFS) takes the next step with FREQUENTIS DIVOS 3 log

The DIVOS 3 log virtual server solution makes its ATM debut: Germanys DFS becomes the first ANSP to exploit the many advantages of this innovative recording system. The new and unique solution draws on proven technology to further improve recording performance and reliability.
As a leading and forward-looking ANSP, Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) requires a system architecture that can record all current and future forms of relevant data. Other key requirements are a scalable solution that can adapt to the demands of facilities ranging from small airports to large ACCs, an integration to a central maintenance and synchronised playback across a nationwide network. With the DIVOS 3 log technical concept providing a state-of-the-art solution for all these requirements, DFS has identified the Frequentis product as the ideal system for their current and future recording needs.

As a result, the two organisations signed a contract in November 2011 which will see the deployment of DIVOS 3 log at the Langen and Munich ACCs and the Dusseldorf tower. The order is the biggest DIVOS contract ever signed by Frequentis and will include a record-breaking 7000 redundant speech channels. The company will also provide a testing & training unit for the Langen air navigation services academy.

The contract includes an option to deploy DIVOS 3 log at the Karlsruhe and Bremen ACCs and a further 13 towers. This would see all DFS ACCs and towers relying on DIVOS 3 log.

DFS also recognises the advantages of integrated recording of all sources in one system, and has asked for the option to include recording of all screens and human input devices used at controller working positions.
