HITT wins A-SMGCS contract in China

HITT has received a Notice of Contract Award to deliver a Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) for the new Kunming airport in South West China.
The new Kunming Airport is intended to become the number four airport in China, after Beijing, Shanghai-Pudong and Guangzhou and is to replace/complement the existing airport which cannot be expanded any further. The existing airport is the 7th busiest airport in China with almost 19 million passengers and 170.000 planes landing or departing per year. Initially the new airport will have two parallel runways, later to be expanded to four. The airport is expected to become one of the main international hubs in China and serve destinations around the world. HITT will deliver a Surface Movement Guidance and Control System, including two high performance Terma radars.

The new system at Kunming Airport will be operational at the end of 2011.
