INDRA the first company in the air traffic and defence sector to accredit the maximum quality of its systems according to the new CMMI level 5 model

- Madrid, Spain.

Indra, one of the main global technology and consultancy companies, has become the first company in the Defence and Air Traffic sectors to be accredited with the maximum quality of its systems according to the new version 2 of the CMMI 5 model.

This latest model allows double-digit improvements in key aspects such as productivity, the speed of software development and product quality, as well as reducing duplication and failures.

Thus, Indra renews the CMMI5 accreditation it already had for the development of Air Traffic Systems and solutions provided by the Centre of Excellence in Security in León with a more updated and demanding version. This accreditation covers the work of the company’s more than 1,100 professionals.

The evaluation passed by the company follows the CMMI Institute’s model, a world benchmark in quality and the application of best practices in engineering and software development.

During this process, Indra has optimized the tools that support the entire life cycle of the systems and products, from the estimation and management of the scope of the project, through to the development and verification of the requirements, and finally their delivery.

This significantly facilitates the management of advanced solutions developed for the iTEC alliance (Interoperability Through European Collaboration) and for customers worldwide who use the Indra Air Automation system, formerly known as Aircon.

This improvement has also had an impact on the state-of-the-art solutions provided by the CES in León, such as the communications recording system and air traffic control screens, and the elements it contributes to the design and manufacture of advanced flight trainers and training systems for the police and soldiers.

These departments in Indra have adapted to the most advanced methodologies, such as “agile” ones, which are increasingly in demand, and have identified improvements to continue evolving and optimizing the company’s processes.

Indra is a leading company in air traffic management systems which have been deployed in over 5,700 facilities in 190 countries.

Organizations with a High Maturity level are characterized by the fact they set quantitative targets in terms of performance and quality of processes and use them as criteria in management. The company thus achieves greater stability and productivity in the development of its solutions, as well as greater customer satisfaction, which is verified through satisfaction surveys.

With this achievement, Indra has gained recognition for its efforts, the quality levels maintained in products and processes, the quantitative management which makes it possible to understand, control and predict its processes as well as continuously improving and innovating.
