Intelcan has successfully passed the Flight Check for a DVOR/DME System at New Quito International Airport (NQIA) in Ecuador. The Flight Check was performed by DGAC of Ecuador. Intelcan supplied and installed a DVOR/DME certified for NQIAs Runway 36 Instrument Approach. Runway 36 is the primary approach runway for NQIA.

The DVOR was installed in the midst of very challenging mountainous terrain. The distance between the DVOR/DME site and the Threshold of RWY36 is 17630 m. The location of DVOR/DME is 330 m offset from the extension of the runway centerline.

The DVOR/DME system includes a 7.5m high counterpoise, a far field monitor (FFM), a near field monitor (NFM), a 6 hour battery backup power supply and a 30KVA generator standby AC power supply. This system also includes a complex environment monitoring system with smoke detection, intrusion alarm, temperature high and mains AC outage. A fully redundant wireless communication system has been built for the remote control between the DVOR/DME site and the control tower.

On July 2, 2012, the first commercial (American Airlines) airplane successfully landed at NQIA. The New Quito International Airport is planned to start operations in the fall of 2012. Intelcan has supplied cost-effective, superior quality DVOR Systems in both European and South American Continents.
