Major recognition for FREQUENTIS expert: International System Safety Society elects Gabriele Schedl as Regional Vice-President

Ms Schedls know-how has now received international recognition through her election to the position of Regional Vice-President of the International System Safety Society.
As a high-tech company active in safety-critical markets, Frequentis has always placed special emphasis on developing its expertise in safety. An in-house safety competence centre was established many years ago under the leadership of Gabriele Schedl, and safety management is an all-pervading component of the companys business processes. Ms Schedls know-how has now received international recognition through her election to the position of Regional Vice-President of the International System Safety Society.

Frequentis is an international supplier of communication and information systems in safety-critical markets and the company is a global market leader in air traffic control. Frequentis solutions are in operation in over 100 countries, and its customers include police, fire and ambulance services, as well as organisations and public authorities in civil/military air traffic management, rail and maritime shipping markets.

In order to provide the safety expertise required for customer projects, Frequentis founded its own competence centre for system safety management in 1995. Gabriele Schedl is the centres head, and has been the companys leading lady on all safety management matters for many years. The specialist safety know-how built up within Frequentis has given the company a decisive competitive advantage, and allowed it to build out its own safety consulting efforts.
150 Gabriele_Schedl_Copyright_FrequentisMs Schedls expertise is much in demand throughout the world, and not just by Frequentis clients: shes also a welcome guest at congresses and interest groups. Besides, she was the driving force behind the establishment of a safety certification course, the result of a cooperation between Frequentis and Viennas University of Applied Sciences.

All these activities have now found special international recognition. In 2000, Frequentis joined the International System Safety Society (ISSS), an international non-profit organisation which connects and supports safety experts all over the world. The ISSS was founded in California in 1964 with an initial focus on military activities, but it has since grown to cover all areas of safety management. Its membership spans the globe and includes large businesses, educational institutions and various prestigious organisations.

In December 2011, her colleagues in the ISSS formally acknowledged Ms Schedls expertise by electing her to the position of Regional Vice-President (RVP) for Europe for the next four years. Additional RVPs were also elected for the Asia/Pacific and North/South America regions, with all under the ultimate leadership of the ISSSs US president. The task of the RVPs is to further increase awareness of the importance of system safety in their region, and to encourage and manage discussion of various issues in safety management. Another important focus is the further development of educational and training opportunities in system safety.

The election of a Frequentis expert to the position of Regional Vice-President is further evidence of the companys know-how and expertise in this area, which this high-tech company also puts to good use in helping develop relevant international standards.
