Metron Aviation Awarded Contract to Optimize Airside Capacity in South Africa

Over the past several years, air traffic demand in South Africa has continued to grow at a steady pace. ATNS and Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) are interested in improving the efficiency of air traffic and airside services at airports, while continuing to maintain the highest of safety standards. The feasibility study will evaluate the baseline airside capacity at each airport, and recommend technologies, infrastructure improvements and Air Traffic Control (ATC) procedural improvements to maximize the airside and airspace capacity of each airport. The recommendations will be based on the evaluation of the technical, financial, environmental and other critical aspects of the proposed airside capacity enhancements. The Metron Aviation team will collaborate with stakeholders from ATNS, and ACSA and the airlines to develop a joint roadmap towards more efficient flight operations from airside to airspace.
