SORA 2.5 training

Our 2-day SORA 2.5 training programme offers a comprehensive and practical overview of the SORA methodology, from its original structure to the latest regulatory changes introduced in version 2.5. It provides a clear understanding of what regulators expect in practice and is particularly valuable for organisations navigating the specific category application process for the first time.

The first session introduces the background and structure of the SORA methodology, the semantic model, core SORA principles, the SORA annexes, and the role of the Operations Manual (OM).

The second session focuses on Ground Risk Class (GRC), Air Risk Class (ARC), strategic mitigations, SAIL (Specific Assurance and Integrity Levels) and OSOs (Operational Safety Objectives), as well as adjacent airspace. The course also covers the Light UAS Operator Certificate (LUC) and its role in scaling BVLOS drone operations.

The course is led by Lorenzo Murzilli, Co-founder and CEO of Murzilli Consulting, who led the development of the SORA methodology as the head of the Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems (JARUS) WG-6. He is also the former leader of the Innovation and Digitalisation Unit at the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA), and a founding member of the Global UTM Association (GUTMA).

The course is designed for aviation authorities looking to learn how to use the SORA methodology to issue operational authorisations, and drone companies wanting to learn how to use the SORA to obtain approvals effectively.

UAS Regulatory training

Our 2-day UAS Regulatory training programme provides clear guidance to the complex and constantly evolving UAS regulatory frameworks.

This training offers a detailed review of the modern regulatory frameworks from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and global regulations, including the latest developments, Regulation (EU) 2019/947 and 2019/945, Regulations on U-Space (2021/664, 665 and 666), and draft AMC/GM. Participants will learn about the EASA’s Basic Regulation (EU) 2018/1139, and the differences between the European and American regulatory framework, the policy for drone technical approval, the updates on standards development and planned regulatory work.
