System enhances collaboration and intelligence to make flights at one of worlds
busiest travel hubs safer, more efficient.
Under an agreement with Philadelphia International Airport, ITT Exelis (NYSE: XLS) is providing the airport with itsSymphony OpsVue flight tracking and situational awareness system.

Symphony OpsVue offers a real-time view of airway and airport activity, which allows for safer, more efficient operations. Providing flexible data visualization options, the system incorporates the most comprehensive aircraft surveillance data available, including data from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administrations NextGen surveillance system, which Exelis is installing, operating and maintaining nationwide.

For Philadelphia, Symphony OpsVues centrally managed, cloud-based architecture delivers business intelligence both cost effectively and on a single platform, ensuring that decisions are based on a complete view of operations, said Ted Carniol, general manager of commercial aviation solutions for Exelis.

Philadelphia International also licenses theSymphony EnvironmentalVue system, which permits airports to better monitor and manage emission and noise pollution. Together, Symphony OpsVue and EnvironmentalVue enable the efficiency, safety and environmental benefits gained from having full awareness of a flights status both on the ground and in the air.
These systems will allow airlines, airports and ground-handling companies to collaborate on a large scale.

Symphony OpsVue enables collaborative decision-making among pilots, controllers and airport staff by allowing users to track aircraft and vehicle movement. It monitors performance and irregular operations; manages arrivals, departures, pushback and de-icing times; and complies with passenger bill of rights requirements.
