PolarSat received over $1 million in VSAT expansion orders from the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China

- Montreal, Quebec, Canada

PolarSat Inc. the technology leader in full mesh hubless VSAT communication modem technology, is pleased to announce that it has received over $1 million in orders from General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) for the equipment supply, and technical services for its VSATPlus family of MF-TDMA satellite communications equipment. The equipment will expand the existing network to over 400 sites occupying a complete 54MHz transponder over 20 carriers.

This VSATPlus® network continues to connect CAAC’s Aerotelenet Company  (ATNC) headquarters offices and regional control centers in a full mesh network. All sites support a complex mix of Air Traffic Control voice and data communications including; VHF voice, ILS, Radar traffic, ADS-B, Weather, Flight plan and traffic. A combination of pre-assigned (PAMA) and on-demand (DAMA) voice circuits are provided for normal telephony traffic as well as hotline applications (for example, VHF voice for Air Traffic Controllers). Data communications include both circuit-switched (synchronous and asynchronous), providing the necessary transmission facilities for such applications as radar multicasting, LAN to LAN connectivity, client-server applications and general corporate communications. Another important application to be supported by the network is the ability to provide backup connectivity to the ATMB’s terrestrial network as well as primary communications for remote airports.

We are very proud of our achievement in operating and maintaining such a world-class air traffic control network for our end-users in the regional bureaus across China that make it the largest single ATC VSAT network in the world”, says Mr. Bei, ATNC’s Deputy General Manager, “… and with the continuous excellent technical support and leading VSAT technology provided by PolarSat, we are confident our future networks will continue to be world-class for many years to come”.

The network growth resulting from these new orders continues to demonstrate PolarSat’s leading position in civil aviation networking. The inherently reliable and flexible system architecture makes the VSATPlus® product line ideally suited for the growing demands of Air Traffic Control communication networking”, states Mr. Jiang Li, General Manager, PolarSat China.

The VSATPlus® family of terminals provides a full mesh, hubless network with no single point of failure and offers the greatest ease of network configuration and expansion. It supports the most demanding network applications including high quality voice, low and high-speed data, video conferencing and fax - all in a single low-cost, integrated platform.
