Qatar is Ready for AMHS

COMSOFT completes phase one of large-scale project for the Civil Aviation Authority of Qatar (QCAA) by taking new AFTN/AMHS system into operation.
DOHA/QATAR, April 2010 Qatar's AFTN/AMHS system located at the International Airport in Doha was taken into operational service after having demonstrated its conformance to all pertinent ICAO SARPs and the demanding user requirements. The prior conducted site acceptance tests verified that Doha easily manages to interface with the neighbouring communication partner Kuwait and Bahrain.
On an interim basis the new message handling system of the brand AIDA-NG is still in charge of handling AFTN and SITA Type B messages. However, its unified handling of different network types will expedite the switch-over to AMHS, which is a transparent task to traffic operators. Initially the system was installed at the current main airport of the country and is part of a larger procurement under the contract of SELEX. As soon as the future New Doha International Airport the opening of which is scheduled for 2011 is ready for occupation the system will be relocated.
In the second phase of the project QCAA will receive further jewels of the COMSOFT portfolio such as the advanced CADAS AIM solution including fully integrated eAIP, charting and NOTAM and OPMET database services.
