Radiometrics SkyCast™ Wind and Thermodynamic Profiling System (WTPS) Inauguration at Indira Ghandi International Airport (DEL)
Radiometrics Corporation and its longstanding Indian partners at Pollution Equipment & Controls (PEC) are pleased and honored to support IITM in the formal inauguration of our SkyCast™ Wind and Thermodynamic Profiling System (WTPS) at Indira Ghandi International Airport (DEL) in New Delhi, where it will play a significant role in enhancing aviation safety and efficiency, as well as support the important Mission Mausam initiative of improving fog forecasting and regional air quality monitoring. With 19 of these systems now installed at major civilian airports and military airbases worldwide, SkyCast™ has become the “go to” solution for critical applications dependent on reliable and accurate observations of upper air wind, temperature, water vapor and liquid conditions.
The SkyCast™ WTPS provides great improvements in airports’ situational awareness of the risks imposed by fog, temperature inversions, windshear, icing and other conditions, helping to reduce accidents and loss of life, while improving operational efficiency.
The consequences of accidents in the airport operating environment are not localized, in fact they can and do impact regional, national, and global operations. A weather-related crash at an international airport can trigger immediate and cascading economic effects across airlines, airports, passengers, cargo, and the broader economy.
The Radiometrics Corporation SkyCast™ system operated and exploited by IITM at DEL will have many positive financial, economic, and social impacts which will significantly exceed expectations and provide an enormous return on the initial investment in its deployment. A weather-related crash at any international airport can cause billions in direct and indirect losses, disrupt global supply chains, damage airline and airport reputations, and necessitate costly resilience measures. The economic footprint extends far beyond the airport itself, affecting airlines, cargo, passengers, and the broader global economy.
Radiometrics Corporation with Pollution Equipment & Controls (PEC) are proud to be dedicated partners of IITM in this collective effort and will provide strong and ongoing support across this and other initiatives to ensure India’s satisfaction and success in its ambitious initiatives to get Ahead of the Weather™.
