Schmid deliver VCS to Kunming New Airport

Zurich and Kunming are sister cities, as well as Switzerland and China are good business partners. Switzerland is the first country in Europe to start negotiations for a free-trade agreement with China.
The cooperation between the countries and the cities has a long tradition. Also in the air traffic control the Southwest Air Traffic Management Bureau (ATMB) of Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC) has trusted Schmid Telecom AG with a first contract for the delivery of a Voice Communication System (VCS) for the Kunming Airport installed and put into operation in 2005.

For the project Middle and Western Radar Control for the new airport in Kunming, ATMB confirmed its satisfaction and confidence in Schmid Telecom AG and signed a contract for the delivery of the VCS.

The VCS to be delivered to Kunming New Airport is an ICS Sky, specially conceived for large airports and large ACC systems. The system has 55 operator positions, 220 radio interfaces, 220 telephone interfaces and will be able to work in parallel with the old VCS system.

With this system the number of Voice Communication Systems from Schmid Telecom delivered to ATMB of CAAC will be twenty one (21).
