SELEX Galileo awarded contracts worth more than 31 Million Euros to supply Precision Approach Radars

SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica Company, has been awarded two contracts for its Precision Approach Radar (PAR) 2090 CF worth around 31 Million Euros.
Par_2090_cf_1_2The first contract was assigned to SELEX Galileo by TELEDIFE on behalf of the Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare), and sees the Company supplying one PAR 2090 CF to be installed in a fixed configuration on the Galatina air base near Lecce. The PAR will be integrated as part of a complete GCA (Ground Control Approach) system, a larger contract that also involves SELEX Sistemi Integrati, another Finmeccanica Company. The second contract, obtained under an international bid, will see the supply of five PAR 2090 CF systems to the Swiss Air Force through the prime contractor EADS. The successful contract award is a reflection of the level of functionality and reliability provided by SELEX Galileos PAR systems, already widely operated by Armoured Forces across Europe and Asia. SELEX Galileo has developed and produced PAR systems since 1980. More than 50 systems have already been delivered to several countries and many of the new generation systems are waiting to be delivered. PAR is an X Band Radar system that assists military aeroplane pilots during approach phases. The system, available in naval and land versions, makes precise instrumental landing possible even in bad weather conditions (intense rain, wind, fog) and poor visibility. SELEX Galileo's PAR radar is able to manage multiple aircraft simultaneously (up to 32) within its field of view (10 in elevation, +/-15 of azimuth coverage). Precision and accuracy exceed ICAO requirements and ensure optimum detection and distinction of targets.
