NASOC Room Inauguration in Poggio Renatico

- Milan, Italy.

As part of its decades-long collaboration with the Italian Air Force, SITTI provided equipment and support for the construction of the new Operations Room for the National Air and Space Operations Centre (NASOC) in Poggio Renatico.

On July 3, the Italian Air Force (Aerospace Operations Command) inaugurated the new Operations Room, which will become operational starting in September 2025, replacing the previous one.

The inauguration was presided over by Air Force General Silvano FRIGERIO, Commander of the Air Force Command (CSA) and 1st Air Region (1RA), in the presence of the Commander of the Aerospace Operations Command (COA) in Poggio Renatico, Air Force Major General Luca MAINERI, and the Head of SITTI Military Programs, Massimo ROMATA, emphasizing the versatility of the systems used to cover Air Force operations.

From the new Operations Room in Poggio Renatico, operators can direct, coordinate, and control all Air Force operations through 14 operational positions. These positions, with cutting-edge performance and functionality, enable integrated management of the Air Force’s operations and greater reliability. The new NASOC National Operations Room will be expanded in the short term (by the end of 2025) to over 30 operational positions to ensure full functionality during particularly complex operations or exercises.

24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the new NASOC Operations Room can perform all planning, execution, coordination, command, and control activities for military flights in Italian airspace, for Defense, Transport, Rescue (SAR), and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations. It also manages major events (e.g., the 2024 G7 summit, the papal election, visits by high-ranking representatives of other nations, and large gatherings) that require close and careful surveillance of Italian airspace.

NASOC is part of national security, within complex international scenarios, in which the readiness, responsiveness, and proactivity of the armed forces are increasingly critical to safeguarding national unity and fulfilling Italy’s role in the global arena.
