Skyguide decides for VISTA II by FREQUENTIS

The Swiss air navigation service provider skyguide ordered the systems solutions of Frequentis for the modernisation of their new Area Control Centre (ACC) in Duebendorf. The world-market leader for voice communication systems in air traffic control supplies a VCS solution which went operational in February 2009.
The VISTA programme ("Voice Integrated Switches for Air Traffic Control") is a synonym for the modernization of the Swiss air navigation service provider skyguide. VISTA II started in November 2005 and includes the communication equipment for the new ACC Zurich Duebendorf. Because of the move of ACC Zurich to the new location in Duebendorf, Frequentis got an additional order for equipping Kloten, the old ACC location, with VCS and EMTEL (Emergency Telephone with VCX technology). At the same time, these equipments allowed the renewal of the ATC Telephone of the Control Tower of Zurich Kloten airport. Now the transition from Kloten to Duebendorf could be performed successfully too. The cutover also signalises the operational start of the original VISTA-Z Tel and EMTEL-Z systems which thus replace the systems VISTA-Kloten and EMTEL-Kloten. VISTA-Z Telephone Switch consists of a VCS 3020X Rel.3.4 system with about 60 controller working positions located in Duebendorf ACC and in Kloten TWR, including many skyguide customized features which are now implemented in future releases. EMTEL-Z is an emergency telephone system which enables the transparent communication to neighbouring air traffic control centres also in technical emergency situations. The final step of VISTA II will be the renewal of the ACC Duebendorf Radio Communication Equipment with the new VISTA-Z Radio planned to be operational during the first semester 2010.
