Skyguide joins A6 Alliance as an independent member

- Brussels, Belgium.

Skyguide (Switzerland) joined the A6 Alliance of European air navigation service providers (ANSPs) working towards the deployment of SESAR to achieve the Single European Sky.

During the last A6 Steering Board meeting, held on 16th of December 2020, skyguide was welcomed as a full member of the A6 Alliance. Skyguide entered the A6 Alliance in 2015 through the DSNA / Skyguide Consortium represented by DSNA. In September 2020 skyguide took over the lead of the R&D Working Group in the A6 Alliance, which led to skyguide becoming an independent member.

- As skyguide moves forward with the implementation of its Virtual Centre, which aims at sustainably improving air traffic management in Switzerland's airspace, we believe that a cooperation among Air Navigation Service providers is the key to optimising European airspace. Thus, we are happy to join the A6 group and we are looking very much forward to this cooperation and to exchange on future ATM concepts. The virtualisation of our legacy, monolithic systems will enable ANSPs in Europe to react faster and with more flexibility to demand in capacity and volatility - says Alex Bristol, CEO of skyguide.

Skyguide is a progressive partner in Europe, cooperating in the A6 framework and with a long-lasting working relationship with the A6 and its working arrangements, representing the A6 in particular threads dealing with SESAR 2020 R&D.

- I am delighted to welcome skyguide to our alliance. It is important that, as an industry, we work together with a wide range of partners from across Europe to help ensure SESAR continues to be driven by operational and business needs that will ultimately benefit Europe’s airspace users and their passengers. The A6 Alliance is pleased to have skyguide join us as a member in this important area - says Janusz Janiszewski, Chief Executive of PANSA and Chair of the A6 Alliance Steering Board.
