Thales signs contract with ASECNA* for a VOR/DME* system

On the 13th February 2012, as the result of a competitive international call for tender, Thales signed a new contract with ASECNA* for the supply of a VOR/DME* system that will be delivered to Maroua airport, in July 2012.
As this is a turnkey project, the contract includes the supply of 1 VOR/DME*  navigational aids system with solar power, as well as the civil works necessary for its installation.

Over the past years, Thales have developed a long standing relationship with ASECNA* have supplied them with many systems, including a contract to deliver 24 VOR, 13 DME* and 2 DVOR* systems in 2010. This new contract with ASECNA* reaffirms their confidence in Thaless
equipment.

ASECNA*: Agency for air navigation security in Africa and Madagascar
VOR*:  radio navigation aid VHF Omni directional Radio Range, it is used for both en route and terminal area guidance (bearing information)
DME* radio navigation aid Distance Measuring Equipment , it is used for both en route and terminal area guidance (distance information)
DVOR*: Doppler VHF Omni-directional Radio range,  it is used for both en route and terminal area guidance (bearing information)
