Thales to provide civil air navigation services to Tunisia

As a result of an international tender, Thales is proud to announce that the Tunisian Civil Aviation and Airports Authority (OACA) has selected Thales technology for its air navigation systems.
The Thales VHF Omnidirectional Radio Range (VOR) and Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) will be securing the Monastir, Gafsa, Sidi Ali Ben Aoun, and Djerba airports. These systems will be used for both en-route and terminal area guidance.

As part of this contract, Thales will ensure the installation, training and all other logistical activities. Production of the systems will be completed in the next couple of months at the Thales Gorgonzola site in Italy and will be delivered to OACA by the end of the year.

Massimo Sanvito, Head of the Air Operations business in Thales Italy said, We are proud to have been selected to help OACA provide the highest level of safety for the Tunisian airspace. Thales was already selected to supply similar VOR and DME systems to the Tunisian Air Force and this new contract confirms OACAs confidence in Thales systems.

The high performance capability of the Thales VOR and DME systems are the key to this new success and confirm Thales ability to deliver advanced technology on time and on budget for both civil and military Air Traffic Control.
