The acceptance testing of Samara enlarged ATC center ATC Automated System is completed

- Saint Petersburg, Russia

The acceptance testing of ATC automated System of Samara enlarged ATC center was successfully completed on June 21, 2013. The new automated system in compliance with all the up-to-date requirements of the Russian Federation as to flight service according to the program of establishment of enlarged ATC centers is developed by NITA, LLC personnel.

The base complex for the ATC Automated System is the new version of ALPHA-5 ATC system. The system functionality corresponds to the basic requirements to ATC automation facilities complexes of the 2nd automation level (with full-service planned subsystem). The Version 5 is the follow-up of the exploratory work done for version 3 upon the Eurocontrol recommendations supplemented by functions according to the requirements of Technical design assignment for Samara enlarged ATC center.

For the first time ever the architecture of the computer complex is changed using the “silent room” concept with the system units being removed to the instrument room for the purpose of more comfortable work of center’s controller staff as well as for computer complex maintainability. The centralized scheme of uninterruptable power supply is applied using high-power group UPSs. In order to improve workstations ergonomics the renewed consoles of PULT-A series were provided.

The ATC center ATC Automated System comprises Airspace Exploitation Planning System (AEP) of area enlarged ATC center based on PLANETA-5 Automation Facilities Complex for Airspace Exploitation Planning, providing AEP functions performance within Samara area ATC center of Uniform ATC System. The new complex is built on the basis of Linux operating system and Oracle DBMS. It creates consolidated information area for ATC Automated system and allows prompt settling of the airspace exploitation tasks at automated interaction with Uniform ATC system Main center as well as with adjacent ATC systems and complexes.

It was the first time that the extended diagnostics and management of complexes and subsystems components using SNMP protocol was developed within the system.

The standard structure of MEGAPHONE VCSS was used as a voice communication subsystem. The alternate VCSS circuit is developed as an emergency radio communication.

The recording system is performed based on the new version of Granit-6 Recorder. The new recorder is created on the basis of Linux operating system and performs recording and synchronous playback of WKS operating screens, as well as video flows from IP video cameras in addition to the traditional kinds of information.

Simulation complex is created on the basis of EXPERT ATC Simulator being a part of radar control modules and of “tower” modules with 270 degrees visualization system.

The new ATC Automated System created in Samara enlarged ATC center will enable to increase the flight safety level under conditions of constantly rising air traffic.
