The first FABEC ATCO Basic Training Course will start on 26 August

- Langen, Germany

On 16 July, on behalf of FABEC Supervisory Authorities, the German Federal Supervisory Authority for Air Navigation services (BAF) approved the FABEC Basic Training Course for air traffic controllers. Based on this decision, the first ATCO trainee will start at DFS Academy on 26 August.

For the first time, the contents of the basic training course were drawn up jointly by all the FABEC air navigation service providers so that there is now one FABEC-wide standard. This facilitates the exchange of instructors and training material as well as the training of air traffic controllers at partner organisations. This concept is underlined by the fact that the courses are being taught by instructors from ENAC and the academies of Belgocontrol, DFS and LVNL and skyguide.

This first FABEC ATCO Basic Course is being conducted as a “pilot” to gather experience for later courses so that the course can subsequently be certified and taught FABEC-wide.
