UkSATSE considers the new concepts of cooperation with M.L.S. college for training of air traffic controllers in the Great Britain

- Boryspil, Ukraine.

The English language proficiency for air traffic control specialists is the significant condition of flight safety, taking into consideration the fact that English is the language of the world aviation. Therefore, Dmytro Babeichuk, Director of Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise (UkSATSE) and Simon Cook, Director of Education and Training, M.L.S. International College have discussed training of UkSATSE air traffic controllers and the new concepts of cooperation between UkSATSE and the British college of the specialized language training.

During the negotiations at UkSATSE premises in Boryspil Simon Cook offered several variants of training programs for the Ukrainian air traffic controllers, one of which foresees both upgrading of the level of general and aviation English and simulator training at M.L.S. For this purpose the company has purchased its own equipment and engaged ATC instructors and pseudo pilots to the training process. Previously UkSATSE specialists used to perform simulator training with use of technical base of the British Air Navigation Service Provider NATS within the framework of M.L.S training. Since recently M.L.S has been autonomously rendering this service and moreover, at more beneficial price.

It has been agreed that this new for UkSATSE form of cooperation may be introduced pursuant to the results of training of a few experimental groups of ATCOs who would evaluate their obtained skills. Simon Cook said that cooperation with UkSATSE would be based taking to the account needs of the Ukrainian party. Namely, the British company has to coordinate with the State Aviation Authority of Ukraine the new form of certificate of language training abroad.

Moreover, M.L.S. International College offers to the specialists of UkSATSE Training and Certification Centre to pass training and obtain the certificate of EALTS independent testing (Aviation Language Testing System) which defines level of the English language proficiency of ATCOs according to ICAO scale which is the obligatory condition of their professional activity.

Note that UkSATSE has been cooperating with M.L.S. International College for almost twenty years during which the language training in Britain was passed by approximately a thousand of the Enterprise specialists – air traffic controllers, engineering personnel and teachers of the Training and Certification Centre.
