US ARMY Orders Solar Helipad Lighting System

The US ARMY will install a solar powered LED helipad lighting system designed in coordination with ARC Aviation Renewables Corp and manufactured from Avlite Systems for operations at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.
The Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC) serves as a mobilization and training site for multiple units of the National Guard, ARMY Reserve, Homeland Security, State Police and First Responders. The remote helipad site will be lighted for dusk till dawn operations, replacing an antiquated electrical system that required maintenance, fixture replacements and ongoing power costs. The Avlite solar powered helipad lighting system will provide an increase safety for NVG aviators and the troops being shuttled to and from the training site. Over the past year, Camp Atterbury has worked closely with Aviation Renewables for the design and installation of a radio controlled solar powered LED APAPI for visible and NVG compatible operations. Feedback from pilots and maintenance staff within the airfield has been overly positive during the last 12 months with the benefit of energy and bulb replacement costs being completely eliminated while maintenance costs have been significantly reduced. As a leader in providing energy efficient power and lighting solutions, Aviation Renewables and bases such as Camp Atterbury continue to lead the way in solar power, LED, off grid renewable aviation solutions.
