SANA'A INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT [ 01/09/2003 – 01/02/2013] SANA'A AERA CONTROL CENTER [ 01/05/2013 – PRESENT] AERA CONTROLLER City: SANA'A Country: Yemen • Directing and coordinating the control of air traffic within the airspace for Sana’a Tower. • Supervising Sana’a Tower personnel on t h e assigned watch regarding their discipline and deportment. • Being responsible for the disposition of the personnel on duty; • Ensuring that the operating positions are manned adequately by personnel qualified and current in practice; • Ensuring that the operating positions are manned adequately by personnel qualified and current in practice; • Ensuring that staff are kept operationally proficient; • Maintaining the ATS log and ensuring that all relevant details are properly recorded; • Carrying out frequent checks on the data displays, communications channels and messages originated in the unit and drawing the attention of personnel concerned to any errors, omissions, irregularities or the use of non-standard procedures; • Initiating, when necessary, in collaboration with other ATC units and authorities, alerting service action in accordance with prescribed procedures reporting to Sana’a Tower chief on: a) All phases of ATC operations requiring the chief’s attention; b) Changes in serviceability of navigational and ATC equipment and facilities; c) Non-compliance with regulations and procedures; d) Any other matters of general operational interest; • Ensuring that staff under training are f u l l y occupied either by on-the-job training, study or related Activity. • Immediately notifying the Engineer on duty of any outage or malfunctioning of equipment that is known or reported to him by my control staff. • Setting a good example and providing proper guidance to subordinate personnel; • Ensuring that visitors and non-control personnel in the Control Room maintain proper decorum and do not interfere with controllers or the Unit’s operation. • Performing such administrative duties as directed by the unit chief; • Recommending, to the unit chief, improvements to procedures and operating methods; • Taking over watch at each operating position often enough to maintain proficiency for all ratings held.
