NATS reopening recruitment campaign for Air Traffic Controllers

- London, U.K.

NATS have announced that they will be reopening a recruitment campaign for Air Traffic Controllers next week.

The assesment for candidates will be in four stages.

Stage 1
Having successfully registered and been approved, candidates will be invited to sit eleven online ability tests. These are designed to assess skills such as spatial awareness, logical thinking, numerical ability, sense of direction and reaction speed.

Stage 2
If succesful in the stage 1 assessments, they will be invited to an online Situational Judgement Test and an online Listening Comprehension test.

Stage 3
If succesful in the stage 2 assessments and the candidate meets the minimum requirements, they will be invited to attend an assessment centre. This is held virtually (via Microsoft Teams). They will take part in an interview and an Air Traffic Control knowledge test, as well as a retest of the previous tests whilst being observed.

Stage 4
If the candidates pass the stage 3 assessments, they will be invited to take part in a practical exercise. This is held either virtually (via Microsoft Teams) or Face to Face at NATS Whiteley office.

If all these assessments are completed to the requirements they will be made a conditional offer of employment (subject to achieving relevant security and medical clearances).

Once they have achieved Class 3 medical clearance, NATS will assign succesful candidates to a training course, provide them with an employment start date and the security clearance process will begin a maximum of 6 months in advance of their start date.
